The cathedral is massive, making it impossible to get a close up with my phone, but here it is from the top of the hill. It's in the middle!

Yet again, a mosque previously occupied this site and it's demolition and the construction of the cathedral began in 1492 and was not completed until 1802. The great architect Andrés de Vandelvira, had the most influence over the building as it looks today. Inside, the building is sombre, with great Corinthian columns surging towards the roof of the nave. There are fine sixteenth century choir stalls with richly carved images from the Old Testament. I rather like it and this is a perfect moment to think of my recently departed and lovely Mum.
