The Monastery of Santo Domingo is erected over a Moorish palace, and was originally a fourteenth century Dominican monastery. It later became Jaén’s university. Later still it was a seat of the Inquisition, before being transformed in more recent times into the office of the provincial historical archive (Archivo Histórico). We enjoy examining the large display of archived documents.
